As modern electronics become increasingly complex, ensuring Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is crucial to prevent interference and guarantee safe and reliable connectivity. Effective EMC testing and suppression measures are essential to achieve this goal.

Unique solutions for emissions testig with new EMI receivers and antennas

Rohde & Schwarz introduces two new EMI test receivers, the R&S EPL1001 and R&S EPL1007, with frequency ranges up to 1 GHz and 7.125 GHz, respectively. These devices, along with the R&S EPL1000, form a new family of EMI test receivers offering flexibility in terms of functions, cost, and upgradability. Depending on the chosen configuration the devices can be used for EMI pre-compliance or become a CISPR 16-1-1 compliant receiver, suitable for conducted and radiated measurements. The devices are designed to be portable and can be operated using batteries, making them convenient for use in various environments and a wide range of applications. Some of these applications will be demonstrated at the show.
Rohde & Schwarz also introduces the R&S HF1444G14, a high-gain EMI microwave antenna covering 14.9 to 44 GHz, designed for compliance testing with CISPR standards. It can fully illuminate the Equipment Under Test (EUT) with a single measurement. When paired with the R&S ESW EMI test receiver, it enables full compliance testing up to 44 GHz.
The R&S ESW, the world’s leading EMI test receiver, will also be on display, boasting an impressive FFT bandwidth of up to 970 MHz. This enables fast and reliable measurements of CISPR frequency bands C and D in a single sweep, thanks to its innovative architecture, which offers the widest measurement bandwidth and highest dynamic range available on the market.

Intelligent test automation solution

The R&S ELEKTRA test software automates EMC testing, controlling the entire system to measure emissions (EMI) and immunity (EMS) of equipment under test (EUT). It simplifies test configuration, speeds up test execution, and generates comprehensive test reports, ensuring reliable and repeatable measurement results. The new features of the R&S ELEKTRA EMC software will be displayed at the show, including the latest capabilities for immunity testing in reverberation chambers.
The R&S AdVISE visual inspection software will also be showcased, featuring an Automatic Event Detection Assistant used in conjunction with R&S ELEKTRA. This assistant is a test method that utilizes a machine learning algorithm for event detection, to automate the visual monitoring of equipment under test (EUT) during EMC testing. This innovative tool eliminates human error, ensures reproducible results, and simplifies test documentation.

Optimizing component performance with EMS immunity test solutions

RF and microwave component testing now benefit from modern EMS solutions, utilizing a broadband amplifier capable of generating field strengths up to 18GHz. The R&S BBA300 family of solid-state broadband amplifiers can deliver higher field strengths in test environments up to 18 GHz. This new generation was developed for high availability and linear RF output over a very wide frequency range from 380 MHz to 6 GHz and 6 GHz to 18 GHz and supports various modulation modes. With their outstanding RF characteristics, they are ideally suited for EMC, RF component testing and ultra-wideband applications and are suitable for various industries such as wireless communications, automotive and aerospace.

Insightful demonstrations on EMI debugging will be shown by the Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes and probing solutions. The R&S RTO6 oscilloscope, boasting a bandwidth of up to 6 GHz, revolutionizes the debugging of conducted emissions and the verification of intended or unintended electrical fast transients ESD (electrostatic discharge) test setups. Further advancements in debugging speed are achieved with the newly introduced R&S MXO series oscilloscopes and the isolated Probing System RT-ZISO to debug your digital and power electronic devices. The scope of services extends to wideband radar testing, incorporating PDW (Pulse Description Word) streaming and real-time analysis, along with top-tier pulse stability measurements on radar components.
