Advanced Rework Technology Ltd (A.R.T.), the leading independent provider of IPC-certified & bespoke training services for the electronics assembly industry, is delighted to be partnering with the IPC, the global trade association that helps OEMs, EMS providers, PCB manufacturers & suppliers build electronics better, alongside leading AS9100- & ISO 13485-accredited contract electronics manufacturer, Jaltek Systems, and independent electronics manufacturing agency, Nano Electronic Services, to deliver an industry workshop titled ‘Insight into Electronics Manufacturing’, hosted at Jaltek’s facility in Luton, Bedfordshire on Wednesday 2 April 2025.

Debbie McDade, Managing Director at A.R.T. commented: “Today’s world runs on electronics: it makes everything we use in everyday life work – from smartphones, TVs and laptops to planes, trains and automobiles. But most of it is hidden away, and despite how critical electronics is, both in the UK and globally, a massive skills gap persists across many sectors – particularly in manufacturing, at which the UK has previously excelled. There is plenty of focus on the need for electronics engineers – but we seem to have forgotten that once a product has been designed, it must then be made.”

This demands skilled electronics manufacturing technicians, with good hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and strong attention to detail. Open to local jobseekers, as well as students from schools, colleges and universities, the aim of this workshop is to encourage prospective technicians to find out more about the role and industry – and for local electronics businesses to promote their facilities and vacancies.

The half-day workshop will include:

  • Informative seminar sessions that talk people through the industry, the opportunities that are available, and the benefits of a career in electronics manufacturing
  • A 30-minute hands-on soldering workshop, where attendees can learn to solder a small working LED board that they can take home with them
  • A job fair where local electronics businesses can showcase themselves and promote current vacancies that they have available
  • Jaltek will also host a tour of their facility to showcase themselves to the local community

Sanjay Huprikar, President, Europe & South Asia Operations at IPC commented: “As part of IPC’s focus to help the UK’s electronics manufacturers address their qualified labour shortages, and to encourage more people to look at electronics as a career, this workshop will highlight the importance
