Living in a digital age, the demand for efficient data centers is inevitable for fueling the tech-driven growth of the country. Looking at the surging internet penetration, standing at 55.2% in 2024, along with a twofold increase in data consumption per user, data centers are required for storing, managing, processing, and transferring data proficiently.

Data centers are well adept at facilitating a wide array of services ranging from social media to e-commerce, OTT surfing, virtual education, banking services, cloud computing, etc. Thereby, given the huge data deluge being generated , the data center industry of the country is undergoing explosive growth, projecting a market worth $ 10 billion, according to the Anarock Capital report. Moreover, with AI gaining momentum, it is further ushering in the path for a new era of data centers, exhibiting resilient infrastructure.

The importance of data centers can be perceived from the fact that even a minor glitch in services can compromise the consumer experience. This can culminate in incurring huge losses to the company due to unnecessary repair costs and revenue loss on account of lost customers. Thereby, it becomes mandatory to protect the integrity of data centers, as the servers and electronic equipment installed within the facility are highly susceptible to undergoing corrosion, wear and tear, and equipment failure due to Airborne Molecular Contamination (AMC). Here, the contaminants present in the air are responsible for unplanned downtime leading to the loss of sensitive and important data crucial for the business.

Delving deep into it, vapour gases, such as sulphur compounds, oxides of nitrogen, chlorine, ammonia, etc., drive airborne molecular contamination (AMC) by triggering chemical contamination. It can have a far-reaching effect on the longevity of sensitive processes by causing the breakdown of machines, ultimately giving rise to faulty operations. The problem is further exacerbated in miniaturized electronics, which are continuously under the risk of micro-corrosion or electronic-corrosion.

Furthermore, the chances of contamination are higher in data centers located near high-density traffic, landfill sites, process industries, sewerage/drains, etc. Disseminating highly corrosive gases like SOx, H2S, NOx, etc. in large quantities, it escalates the probability of contamination in the facilities. Therefore, it becomes a prerequisite to deploy quality air solutions across the data centers to achieve optimal environmental conditions aimed at amplifying the resilience and output of the centers.

To achieve the purpose, installing Gas Phase Filtration systems (GPF) comes in handy for filtering out corrosive gases. It is adept at safeguarding the microcircuitry of PCBs and goes a long way in prolonging the longevity of the equipment. Employing DataCenter Air Purifier (DAP) further drives the effective mitigation of airborne molecular contamination from the facility with the help of honeycomb matrix filter and revolutionary macro-porous desiccant. Coming with the added advantage of high bulk density, structural strength, and adsorption capacity, the filter checks the intrusion of contaminants within the premises. With edge data centers mushrooming in tier 2 & 3 cities, industry players can resort to BryShield from the house of Bry-Air to meet the quality air requirement of small server rooms.

To fortify the infrastructure of data centers, controlling the humidity is equally important as even the slightest presence of moisture can initiate condensation which in extreme case can give rise to electrical short circuit. Installing Compact Dehumidifiers aids in exercising thorough control over humidity level, restricting it within a very narrow range. It is proficient at eliminating excess moisture from the facility which significantly contributes to the safety and productivity of the occupants.

Furthermore, for ensuring thorough protection of the data centers, there must be arrangement for Customised Pressurisation Units as well to restrict the entry of hazardous substances completely. Creating a positive pressure across the facility it curtails the influx of contaminated air into the premises. In addition to this, it conducts the purification of incoming air by treating the outdoor air which removes humidity and contaminants present in the air.

As a result, by working in tandem, all the systems together aid in augmenting the performance, efficiency, and longevity of the data centers. Providing quality air solutions, they are at the helm of giving the desired thrust to growth of data centers across the country. Mitigating the cases of corrosion, and machine breakdown, quality air is a determining factor in driving the monumental expansion of the sector and in turn, also contributes to scalability of the enterprises.
