Romania is one of the fastest-growing manufacturing markets in Eastern Europe, and it is precisely there that SIMTEK will be showcasing the tooling solutions driving this transformation at the Metal Show & TIB in Bucharest from May 12 to 15. In Hall B2, Booth 142, the company will present lasered chip-forming geometries and the modular milling tool system simmill 9W—two technologies that address both process reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Romania has developed into one of the most important automotive hubs in Eastern Europe: well-known manufacturers are relocating production here, a dense network of suppliers has emerged, and with them, the demand for high-precision, process-reliable tooling solutions is rising. SIMTEK is prepared for this market: the company has its own sales representative in Romania who supports direct customers and local distribution partners. “We have a direct presence in Romania—this demonstrates the importance of this market to us. Manufacturing companies here are specifically looking for solutions that combine process reliability with cost-effectiveness, and that is precisely our approach,” explains Domenico Laurenza, Head of Marketing at SIMTEK. The Metal Show & TIB in Bucharest offers direct access to industry experts and decision-makers from the region.

Lasered chip-forming geometries for reliable chip control

3D-lasered chip-forming geometries enable reliable chip control even with difficult-to-machine materials and complex contours, making them a key factor in automated manufacturing processes. Uncontrolled chips can damage tools and components and result in costly rework. This is where lasered tools come into play: They direct the chip away from the machining zone, thereby increasing process reliability even at high throughput.

simmill 9W – modular milling tool system with monoblock stability

The simmill 9W milling tool system follows the MONODULAR principle: It combines the stability of monoblock tools with the cost-effectiveness of modular systems. Compared to pure monoblock tools, material usage is significantly lower—an argument that gains weight in light of rising carbide prices. In the standard range, up to 12 cutting edges are used for milling depths of up to 16.5 mm; in the custom range, the possibilities regarding diameters, widths, and depths are even greater. The system is suitable for groove, parting-off, and slot milling, particularly in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries.

Length-adjustable tools for flexible small-batch production

SIMTEK also introduces length-adjustable tools that enable users to achieve a high degree of flexibility in small-batch production with fewer tool variants. SIMTEK’s length-adjustable tools are specially designed for small-batch production and allow users to respond quickly and flexibly to changing requirements. Due to their versatility and the reduction in the number of tool variants required, the length-adjustable tools are not only particularly economical and flexible, but also ensure maximum stability and precision thanks to the patented ME clamping principle, even with the additional interface. The product range covers a wide spectrum of applications: From boring tools for boring small holes starting at Ø 4.7 mm with simturn AX, to tools for applications such as boring, grooving, or threading in bores starting at 7.0 mm with simturn DX, all the way to triple-edged boring tools from the simturn PX series for bores starting at Ø 10.5 mm. “For those who want less setup time, less inventory, and yet the same precision, our length-adjustable holders provide exactly the right tool,” emphasizes Domenico Laurenza.

Custom tools for practically every challenge

The tool developers at SIMTEK always think beyond the limits of the standard product range to provide customers with the best possible tool solution for their specific application. With over 10,000 custom developments annually, the company helps manufacturers to produce economically even in the smallest batch sizes. This is particularly relevant for medical technology and the machining of micro-parts, where special geometries and minimal diameters are often required.
