TimesTech: Since entering India in 1996, LAPP India has evolved from a cable manufacturer to a comprehensive connectivity solutions provider. What have been the key milestones that shaped this transformation journey?

Sumit: Our journey has been defined by strategic milestones. The establishment of our first plant in Bangalore in 1998 laid the foundation for local manufacturing excellence. Expansion into Bhopal in 2012 and Dharuhera in 2024 strengthened our footprint and capacity. Over time, we moved from product-centric to solution-centric offerings—launching specialized ranges for automation, renewable energy, and EVs. Initiatives like backward integration, e-Beam technology adoption, and partner engagement platforms we have reinforced our transformation. Each milestone reflects our commitment to moving Beyond Cable—delivering integrated connectivity solutions that combine reliability, innovation, and trust.

TimesTech: LAPP India has been making strategic investments in advanced manufacturing capabilities, including backward integration and e-Beam irradiation technology. How are these innovations helping the company address the evolving demands of sectors like EVs, automation, renewable energy, and robotics?

Sumit: Backward integration ensures supply chain resilience and uncompromised quality, while e-Beam irradiation technology enhances cable performance, durability, and safety. These innovations directly address the stringent requirements of emerging sectors. For EVs, they enable high-voltage reliability; for automation and robotics, they support precision and speed; and for renewable energy, they ensure long lifecycle performance under demanding conditions. In short, our manufacturing investments are designed to future-proof our portfolio and empower customers in next-generation industries.

TimesTech: With India rapidly emerging as a global manufacturing hub, how do you see the role of advanced connectivity and cabling solutions evolving in enabling smart factories, industrial automation, and digital infrastructure?

Sumit: Connectivity is the nervous system of modern manufacturing. As India embraces Industry 4.0, advanced cabling solutions will be critical in enabling seamless machine-to-machine communication, predictive maintenance, and real-time data integration. Reliable cabling ensures that smart factories operate with efficiency, safety, and scalability. At LAPP India, we see ourselves as enablers of this digital shift—providing solutions that not only transmit power and data but also unlock the full potential of industrial automation and digital infrastructure.

TimesTech: Sustainability is becoming central to industrial operations worldwide. Could you share how initiatives such as the solar power plant in Bhopal and other green manufacturing efforts align with LAPP India’s long-term sustainability vision?

Sumit: Sustainability is embedded in our long-term vision. The solar power plant at Bhopal is a flagship initiative, reducing our carbon footprint and demonstrating renewable energy adoption. Across our facilities, we are implementing energy-efficient processes, waste reduction programs, and green manufacturing practices. These efforts align with global sustainability goals and reinforce our responsibility as a corporate citizen. For us, sustainability is not peripheral—it is central to how we operate and grow.

TimesTech: LAPP India is targeting to double the revenue by 2030. What are the major growth drivers and expansion strategies that will help the company achieve this ambitious milestone?

Sumit: Our growth trajectory is being shaped by the rising demand in EVs and renewable energy, where we are positioning ourselves as a trusted solutions partner. At the same time, we are strengthening our portfolio in automation and robotics to support India’s transition to smart manufacturing. Expanding our dealer network and loyalty programs is deepening engagement with partners, while exports are being scaled to leverage India’s role as a global manufacturing hub. Complementing these initiatives, we are investing in digital lead generation to enhance customer outreach and market access. Together, these strategies form a disciplined roadmap that will enable us to doubling our revenue by 2030 while reinforcing our Beyond Cable positioning.

TimesTech: Having led business transformations across multiple global markets, what leadership principles and operational strategies do you believe are most critical for building resilient, future-ready manufacturing organizations in today’s rapidly changing industrial landscape?

Sumit: Resilient organizations thrive on agility, the ability to pivot quickly in response to market and technology shifts. They are strengthened by collaboration, building ecosystems of trust with partners, suppliers, and customers. And they are sustained by innovation, embedding continuous improvement and advanced technologies into every layer of operations. For leaders, this means driving disciplined execution, investing in talent and processes, and maintaining a relentless focus on customer-centricity. These principles ensure that manufacturing organizations are not only future-ready but also capable of shaping industrial transformation rather than merely adapting to it.
