TimesTech: Businesses today are looking beyond basic printing and focusing more on workflow efficiency and digitisation. How is Canon India adapting its business imaging solutions to meet these changing expectations?

Sukumaran: Our approach begins with listening carefully to how workplaces are changing and then shaping solutions that truly address those needs. We are expanding our offerings to simplify document processes, strengthen data security, and integrate seamlessly with digital workflows, so that businesses can focus on outcomes rather than operations. It’s not about selling devices alone, but about enabling organizations to work with greater efficiency, flexibility, and confidence. At Canon India, we see this as our responsibility—and we are committed to being a trusted partner in driving their digital transformation journey forward.

TimesTech: Canon recently introduced the imageFORCE C3150 with OLED-based D² Exposure Technology. What makes this technology different, and how does it improve print quality and performance for enterprise users?

Sukumaran: The imageFORCE C3150 is a breakthrough because Canon’s D² Exposure Technology—Defined and Detailed Exposure—moves beyond conventional laser systems to an advanced OLED-based mechanism. This enables resolution up to 4,800 × 2,400 dpi, delivering sharper text, smoother gradations, and finer detailing that elevate overall print quality. With print speeds of up to 50 pages per minute, it combines precision with productivity, ensuring enterprises can meet demanding workloads efficiently. Precise CMYK layer alignment guarantees colour stability across repeat jobs, while support for heavier media and SRA3 printing opens new possibilities for brochures, promotional materials, and full-bleed applications. For enterprise users, it translates into sharper quality, reliable performance, and the confidence to deliver exceptional output at scale.

TimesTech: Sectors like BFSI, healthcare, education and government are rapidly moving towards paper-light operations. What kind of demand are you seeing for document digitisation solutions, and how do the imageFORMULA DR-C340 and DR-C350 fit into this shift?

Sukumaran: Industries are accelerating their move towards paper-light operations, and the demand we see is for solutions that can digitize documents quickly, securely, and with minimal disruption to workflows. The imageFORMULA DR-C340 and DR-C350 deliver exactly that, with high-speed scanning up to 40 and 50 pages per minute respectively, supported by a 100-sheet automatic document feeder to handle large volumes efficiently. They are versatile enough to process receipts, ID cards, passports, and even long documents, making them suitable for diverse operational needs across sectors. Combined with advanced image processing and compact designs, these scanners empower organizations to convert paper into secure, searchable digital data, helping them achieve efficiency, compliance, and sustainability. With these solutions, Canon is enabling enterprises to confidently embrace digitization and build truly modern workplaces.

TimesTech: Multifunction devices are increasingly becoming central to office productivity. In your view, how are customer expectations evolving when it comes to print, scan and document management solutions?

Sukumaran: Customer expectations today go far beyond the traditional functions of print and scan—they are looking for devices that act as intelligent hubs for productivity. We see a growing demand for solutions that integrate seamlessly with digital workflows, safeguard information, and simplify document management across teams. Multifunction devices are expected to deliver speed, reliability, and intuitive usability, while also supporting remote and hybrid work environments. At Canon, our focus is on embedding automation, security, and cloud connectivity into these devices, so they become enablers of smarter collaboration rather than just office equipment. This evolution is reshaping how workplaces operate, and we are committed to leading that change with solutions that are both powerful and easy to adopt.

TimesTech: We are seeing strong technology adoption beyond metro cities as well. How important are Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets for Canon India’s growth plans, and what opportunities do you see there?

Sukumaran: Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets are absolutely central to our growth vision because they represent the next wave of technology adoption in India. We are seeing businesses and institutions in these regions embrace digitization with remarkable speed, driven by the need for efficiency, compliance, and customer engagement. The opportunity lies not only in expanding access to advanced imaging and document solutions, but also in supporting local enterprises as they modernize their operations. By bringing scalable, cost-effective, and easy-to-use technologies to these markets, Canon India is committed to empowering organizations beyond metros and ensuring that digital transformation reaches every corner of the country. This expansion is not just growth for us—it’s about enabling inclusive progress across India’s diverse business landscape.

TimesTech: As India continues its digital transformation journey, where do you see the future of business imaging headed over the next few years, especially in areas like automation, smart workflows and connected office?

Sukumaran: The future of business imaging is moving decisively towards intelligent automation and connected ecosystems. Customers increasingly expect devices that don’t just print or scan, but actively streamline workflows, integrate with cloud platforms, and ensure data security across hybrid workplaces. Smart workflows will reduce manual intervention, while AI-driven automation will make document management faster and more accurate. At the same time, connected office solutions will enable seamless collaboration across geographies, ensuring that information flows securely and efficiently. Canon’s vision is to lead this transformation by embedding intelligence, sustainability, and reliability into every solution—helping businesses build workplaces that are truly digital, agile, and future-ready.
