TimesTech: Canon has integrated AI, ML, and big data into its supply chain operations. Can you share specific examples of how these technologies have optimized logistics and enhanced real-time responsiveness?

Ashutosh: Canon India has been at the forefront of technological advancements that can be further implemented towards efficiency in its systems. Leveraging emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data, and IoT to improve transparency and real-time tracking, ensuring a more responsive and resilient supply chain.

Another key development has been the implementation of an Integrated Information System (IIS) and Electronic Data Interchange System (EDIS), which allows seamless data exchange with suppliers and partnerships, improving order management and delivery tracking.

Automation and data analysis plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient inventory management, better demand forecasting, and faster response time to customer needs. Overall, our innovations have allowed us to maintain business continuity, improve product availability, and continue delighting our customers with reliable services.

TimesTech: With the rise of cloud computing, how is Canon leveraging it to improve supply chain efficiency, and what role does automation play in streamlining operations?

Ashutosh: Canon has integrated cloud computing across our operations, enabling real-time data analytics and visibility that enhance customer satisfaction. As far as automation is concerned, the Electronic Data Interchange System (EDIS) helps us automate data exchange with suppliers, leading to reduced manual errors, quick operations, and improved order accuracy. We have also implemented Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to minimize repetitive tasks, and wearable scanners for warehouse operations to enhance picking accuracy and reduce manual errors. Additionally, IoT sensors and vehicle telematics track shipments in real time and monitor vehicle performance. The integration of Big Data and Cloud Computing allows us to analyse vast amounts of data for better decision-making, while automated warehouse systems improve efficiency in product handling and order fulfilment. Our commitment to these advanced technologies underlines the importance we place on maintaining a state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure.

TimesTech: Effective data monitoring is crucial for supply chain optimization. What technological systems has Canon implemented to ensure accurate and efficient tracking of supply chain activities?

Ashutosh: Data is a key pillar for driving efficiency in supply chain optimization. At Canon we leverage data management and advanced analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPI) which include timely analyses of delivery times, inventory levels, and supply chain disruptions. Furthermore, working in partnership with logistic partners equipped with cutting-edge technology like IoT sensors, vehicle telematics, and automated systems, they have resulted in providing better coordination, transparency and fast response rate.

With evolving market conditions, we aim to invest in an agile supply chain that can respond to unexpected changes. Further, embracing these emerging technologies will help us optimize processes, enhance transparency, and ensure efficiency, making businesses more optimum and scalable.

TimesTech: India’s logistics landscape is evolving rapidly. How is Canon contributing to building a more efficient and technologically advanced logistics ecosystem in the country?

Ashutosh: Technology is a key driver of efficiency in logistics, enabling smarter, data-driven operations. At Canon, we leverage these advancements through warehouses equipped with state-of-the-art material handling equipment (MHE) and cutting-edge technologies such as IoT sensors, vehicle telematics, and automated information exchange systems. These innovations ensure secure, efficient product storage, handling, and movement. Additionally, infrastructure developments—including highway expansions, dedicated freight corridors, and increased investments in ports and logistics hubs—have significantly enhanced India’s logistics capacity. Canon’s automated systems further strengthen connectivity with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners, ensuring real-time, accurate information exchange across the network. By embracing digital transformation, Canon continues to drive operational excellence and adapt seamlessly to the industry’s evolving demands.

TimesTech: As Canon strengthens its industry presence with advanced supply chain management, what future innovations or strategies can we expect to see in the coming years?

Ashutosh: Leveraging the latest technological advancements, Canon is continuously innovating to enhance its scalability in logistics and supply chain management. With a strong focus on optimizing delivery solutions and upgrading warehousing capabilities, the brand remains agile and responsive to evolving market demands while maintaining its commitment to operational excellence. As part of Supply Chain cycle, we are adopting several automations on Demand Supply Forecasting, using tools to evaluate the fastest mode of transit and lowering costs. Our focus is also on standardisation and accreditations leading to higher levels of Logistics quality of deliverables and certifications. We use these achievements in shortening timelines, faster processing, and reaching our customers much ahead in time, to live with our motto of “Delighting you Always”.
