The Short Story

Shruti Engineers is a Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), based out of Pune. The 10-man company manufactures assembly components for automotive lines. Before installing a cobot, their production was limited. However, they have now been able to increase daily output by 75% thanks to a UR10.  Shruti Engineers realized that cobots are affordable, easy to use and program, increase efficiency, and are safe to use around the human workforce.

The Challenge

Shruti Engineers had a small labor force, working out of a single plant, with production limited to 300 machine parts per day. The company realized they needed to look for automation in order to increase output.

The Solution

Since Shruti Engineers deployed their first collaborative robot, a UR10, daily production has grown from 300 to 400 parts with machine efficiency increased and downtime reduced. As the UR10 is a cobot, it is safe for humans to work around it, making it easier for them to use. The programming of Universal Robots’ cobot is so simple that Shruti Engineers’ operators learnt how to program it within a day – in fact, the workers feel that operating the cobot is as easy as using a smartphone.

The Product

Shruti Engineers is a Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) that started in 2008. It is involved in the manufacturing of automotive components, primarily engine and transmission parts for a multitude of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The business deployed a cobot in their endeavor to boost quality production and take a step in the direction of Industry 4.0, despite it being a rather new concept for the Indian MSME.
