TimesTech: What kind of technologies Onlygood is using to reduce carbon emission in the automobile industry?

Rajeev: Onlygood provides businesses with a cloud based platform for carbon data tracking, analysis and reporting across their global facilities and assets at any level. The platform uses IoT device sensors and computer vision to automate data collection across supply chains. The platform also employs machine learning to forecast emissions and model scenarios for decisions making.

TimesTech: How can Indian automakers reduce the embedded carbon footprint of their vehicles?

Rajeev: Indian automakers can reduce embedded carbon footprints by implementing energy-efficient manufacturing processes, and increasing the percentage of renewable energy sources. They should use low-carbon suppliers or sustainable materials and institutionalise processes that reduce, reuse and recycle material waste. Vehicles should be designed with a focus not just on fuel efficiency but also low carbon materials that can be recycled at the end of life of the vehicle. Building capabilities in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies should be a strategic imperative.

TimesTech: What cleaner technologies can Indian automakers adopt to minimize carbon footprints?

Rajeev: Indian startups can adopt carbon emissions monitoring for their facilities and nascent supply chains. They should use Energy-efficient manufacturing processes and Renewable energy sources for operations such as recharging electricity vehicles using solar chargers. Smart grid solutions and energy management systems will also be useful.

TimesTech: How is Onlygood utilizing advanced battery technologies for energy efficiency?

Rajeev: Onlygood’s Sustainability Intelligence software platform can help manufacturers in the advanced battery technologies industries to monitor the carbon emissions during production as well as conduct a lifecycle analysis for each battery product to determine level of ‘green-ness’.

TimesTech: How do AI and blockchain contribute to trust, transparency, and scaling for automakers?

Rajeev: AI techniques such as computer vision enabled data ingestion and prediction algorithms enhance trust and transparency by providing accurate data analysis, predictive maintenance, and personalized customer experiences.

AI can be used to by optimize operations, automate tasks, and offer insights for strategic decisions.

Blockchain-based carbon footprints Ensure trust and transparency through immutable records of carbon related transactions and processes.

TimesTech: What benefits do machine learning and AI provide for identifying carbon emission hotspots?

Rajeev: Machine learning and AI help predict carbon emission hotspots by analyzing large datasets to detect patterns and anomalies. AI algorithms can foresee high-emission areas, suggest optimization strategies or prescribe timely actionable steps. AI models can simulate various scenarios to assess the impact of different measures on emission levels, allowing for targeted interventions.
