Ozonetel, Pratham Books to Provide Audio Storytelling for children

India, 1st June 2020: Ozonetel, India’s leading provider of on-demand cloud communication /telephony solutions has collaborated with Pratham Books, a not-for-profit children’s book publisher, in an effort to bring audio stories closer to children without any internet connection or smart phone, free of cost. Children can now sit at home and listen to various audio stories just by just giving a missed call.

During the pilot phase of this campaign in 2017, Pratham Books, using Ozonetel’s “Missed call” feature on the KOOKOO platform, had reached over 58528 children in two languages across four states of India for on mobile phones. In 2020, as schools have been closed down for an indefinite period to contain the spread of the COVID-19, parents are looking out for meaningful ways to engage their kids. Ozonetel provided the technical support to revive this successful campaign and brought out this unique way of storytelling to engage the kids effectively. Launched in April, 2020, the second phase of the campaign has already received more than 40,000 missed calls and delivered more than 50,000 stories.

How it works: Parents can leave a missed call at 08033094243 and will receive a call back within minutes. Ozonetel IVR system allows them to choose the language and story of their choice. Children can then listen to two stories per session. The database integration helps in continuing the story where left off in case the call gets disconnected. Telephony integration with radio allows the messages to be rich in sound, music and dramatic narrative.
