As India embarks on its journey to become a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing, Gujarat is emerging as a frontrunner in driving this transformation. With a strong policy framework, world-class infrastructure, and strategic government interventions, the state has positioned itself as the preferred destination for semiconductor investments. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is fostering a thriving Semiconductor & Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem, driving cutting-edge research, manufacturing, and innovation in the semiconductor domain.

Building on the resounding success of the Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2024, the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat, the global semiconductor association SEMI, and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) have announced that “Gujarat SemiConnect 2025” will play a pivotal role in advancing India’s journey towards self-reliance in semiconductor technology.

Guided by the decisive leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, the state has swiftly capitalized on emerging opportunities, creating a competitive edge that has attracted major investments into Gujarat. With semiconductor facilities at various stages of development, the Government of Gujarat is now focused on building a robust and resilient semiconductor ecosystem to sustain long-term growth

Ms. Mona Khandhar IAS, Principal Secretary, DST, Government of Gujarat, stated: “A robust Semiconductor & ESDM sector has the potential to transform India’s economy, enhance innovation, and strengthen national security. Hosting the 2nd edition of Gujarat SemiConnect Conference including Building Local to Global Value Chain, IESA Vision Summit and ISPEC underscores the state’s pivotal role in India’s semiconductor revolution and our commitment to establishing Gujarat as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing. We look forward to welcoming thought leaders, innovators, and visionaries from around the world to foster meaningful collaborations and build a strong local-to-global value chain.” The event will bring together over 1,500 delegates from across the globe, including top government officials, industry leaders, MSMEs, startups, incubators, and academia. With more than 25 top government officials participating, the summit will provide key insights into policy frameworks and visionary strategies shaping the future of the semiconductor and electronics sectors.

Dr. V Veerappan, Chairperson, IESA and Mr. Ashok Chandak, President, IESA, emphasized: “The IESA Vision Summit 2025 underscores our continued commitment to fostering semiconductor manufacturing in India. With strong participation from global semiconductor supply chains, we are collectively working toward building a resilient ecosystem. This year’s summit will feature six country delegations and visionary keynote sessions, accelerating India’s journey to becoming a global semiconductor hub.”

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat, the global industry association SEMI serving the electronics manufacturing supply chain, providing standards, advocacy, and market research for the semiconductor and related industries, and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), India’s leading trade body for the semiconductor and electronics industry, shared the highlights of the Gujarat SemiConnect 2025 consisting of 19th edition of the IESA Vision Summit and Indian Semiconductors & Packaging Ecosystem Conference (ISPEC) 2025 scheduled from March 5-7, 2025. The conference will be jointly organized by Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), SEMI and IESA. The media was briefed by Ms. Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat in presence of Mr. Manish Gurwani, Mission Director of Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), Mr Ajit Manocha President and CEO of SEMI Global, Mr. Ashok Chandak, President of IESA and representatives from Semiconductor Anchor investors of Gujarat: Micron, Tata, CG Power and Kaynes, during a press briefing at Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar.

Mr. Ajit Manocha, President and CEO SEMI Global, highlighted: “The global semiconductor industry is undergoing a crucial transformation to bolster supply chain resiliency with a diversification of manufacturing hubs, providing an unprecedented opportunity for India to grow its industry share. Gujarat’s ground-breaking policies and industry-friendly approach have played a pivotal role in India’s initial success in semiconductor manufacturing. Through international collaborations, GSEM, SEMI, and IESA remain committed to accelerating India’s journey toward serving as a key player in a robust and globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem. Events such as these bringing the global industry to the state of Gujarat will be instrumental in expanding opportunities.”

This flagship event, which will play a pivotal role in shaping India’s Semiconductor and Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector, will be inaugurated by Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, on 5 March 2025 at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The Gujarat SemiConnect 2025 will revolve around the theme “Silicon Gujarat: Powering India’s Semiconductor Revolution” and will explore how a thriving Semiconductor & ESDM sector can propel India to global leadership in technology and manufacturing. The event will focus on attracting global investments, enhancing the capacity of local industries by integrating them into the global value chain, promoting skill development through specialized training in this high-tech and rapidly growing sector, and fostering ecosystem development to create a robust semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat.

The event will feature Ground-breaking Ceremony for Kaynes Technology’s New Semiconductor Facility in Gujarat, MoU with Jabil Inc for Silicon Photonics Facility in Gujarat, MoU with TSMT for New Manufacturing Unit in Gujarat, MoU with Micron for EHS Initiatives, aligning with global CSR benchmarks, MoU between Tata Electronics and IIT Gandhinagar, Announcement of Social Infrastructure projects in Dholera, release of Gujarat Semiconnect Conference 2024 Report, IESA’s report release on ” Semiconductor Manufacturing Supply Chain ” , Vision to Reality – Make In India product launches by IESA and many other important announcements.

The event will also feature keynote addresses and high-impact panel discussions by industry leaders, government policymakers, and technology innovators. Key topics will focus on cutting-edge technologies, emerging industry trends, and transformative global collaborations aimed at revolutionizing India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing landscape. Delegates attending the event will also have the opportunity to explore the emerging semiconductor clusters in Dholera and Sanand through a planned visit during the event.
