ThoughtSol Infotech, a leading name in technology solutions, is stepping up its commitment to sustainability by undertaking a comprehensive assessment of its carbon footprint. The company has recognized the environmental impact of its operations and is working toward being part of the solution by evaluating and disclosing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with its activities. This marks an important milestone in ThoughtSol’s journey towards adopting greener practices.
The carbon footprint analysis was carried out in line with the globally recognized ISO 14064-1 standard and GHG Protocol. This assessment evaluates the company’s GHG emissions across various operational activities, setting benchmarks to track performance over time. The analysis aims to form a strong foundation for ThoughtSol’s ongoing sustainability efforts, driving future decision-making and action plans.
Commenting on the same belief, Mr. Vinet Kuumar expressed his delight, stating “We at ThoughtSol are deeply aware of our responsibility towards the environment. This carbon footprint analysis is just the beginning of our commitment to creating a more sustainable future.”
The assessment covers both direct and indirect emissions, including direct GHG emissions from company operations (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased electricity (Scope 2), and selected indirect emissions from external sources, such as business travel and employee commuting (Scope 3). By accurately measuring these emissions, ThoughtSol can take informed steps toward reducing its carbon footprint.
Decarbonization Action Plan
ThoughtSol is in the process of developing a long-term decarbonization plan aimed at reducing emissions across its operations. Though the company has not yet initiated GHG reduction activities, its ultimate goal is to achieve carbon neutrality. This assessment serves as a crucial step in identifying key areas for emission reduction, allowing the company to establish more sustainable business practices.
The decarbonization plan focuses on several initiatives:
- Reduce Scope 1 emissions from mobile combustion by 2% by the next financial year: This will be achieved through policies like eco-driving training, regular vehicle maintenance, and route optimization for business trips.
- Reduce Scope 2 emissions by 2% through energy conservation: ThoughtSol will implement energy-saving measures, such as a “Switch Off” campaign for lights and equipment, optimized thermostat settings, and power-saving modes on office devices.
- Reduce Scope 3 emissions from business travel and employee commute by 2%: The company will promote virtual meetings, implement a “No Travel Week” for non-essential trips, and encourage the use of public transportation.
- Reduce waste sent to landfills by 2% by promoting recycling: A comprehensive recycling program will be introduced for paper, plastic, and e-waste. Employees will also be encouraged to use reusable water bottles and coffee mugs, and printing will be optimized to reduce paper waste.
“By taking proactive steps today, we aim to not only reduce our own emissions but also inspire others in our industry to do the same. Together, we can make a significant impact on global sustainability,” concluded Mr. Vinet.
With this initiative, ThoughtSol is positioning itself as a leader in the IT sector’s push towards more sustainable practices, demonstrating that environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand with business success.
