USI – CyberPeace CCOE launched by the Minister of Shri Sanjay to Cyber Defense

CyberPeace, in collaboration with the United Service Institution of India (USI of India), proudly announces the inauguration of the second phase of the USI-CyberPeace Center of Excellence (CCoE). The event was marked by the esteemed presence of Shri Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, who unveiled the official logo and inaugurated the second phase of the CyberPeace CCoE.

The USI-CyberPeace Center of Excellence continues to play a pivotal role in addressing the complex challenges of cybersecurity and emerging technologies within the defense sector. Building on the success of the first phase, the second phase further strengthens the Center’s mission to advance tech policy research, conduct cyber exercises, and enhance capacity-building initiatives that are critical to national and global security in the digital age. This launch also marks the announcement of the USI-CCoE’s Chairs of Excellence and Distinguished Fellows, further enhancing the Center’s capacity to lead national and global discourse in cybersecurity innovation and research. Additionally, during the launch, NIELIT signed an MoU with USI to recognize Cyber Security Qualifications and launch new short-term and long-term courses in Cyber Security/Information Security . The MoU aims to build capacity across India to train veterans, their family and Agniveers, enhancing their employability and contributing to cyber peace.

Dignitaries including Major General BK Sharma, AVSM, SM & Bar (Retd), Director General, USI of India, Major General Pawan Anand, AVSM (Retd), Director (CANB), USI of India and Major Vineet Kumar, Founder and Global President of CyberPeace were present at the launch. The first Chair of Excellence has already been offered by the National Commission of Women and accepted by USI-CCoE. Bosch has also confirmed the setting up of a chair with USI-CCoE. Jio has also expressed their interest in the same. The first cohort of Distinguished Fellows has also been announced, including Ms. Rekha Sharma, former chairperson National Commission of Women, Lt. General (Dr.)

Shri Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, addressed the audience with a sense of pride, stating, “As we prepare to celebrate our 78th Independence Day tomorrow, I am proud to say that the world is looking at us

with respect and admiration. As Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said, cybersecurity is no longer confined to the digital world; it has become an issue of national security”.

Praising the extensive work of CyberPeace and its initiatives, Hon’ble Minister pointed that cyber challenges are continuously evolving and nobody is left untouched from cyber crimes in today’s digital world – be it the be it the biggest institution or even an anganwadi worker at the grassroot level”. The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the efforts of CyberPeace in promoting cyber awareness and protecting society from cyber crimes. The Hon’ble Minister further said that India is the agradoot of the Cyber kranti.

The USI-CyberPeace Center of Excellence is dedicated to advancing cybersecurity through a comprehensive approach that includes pioneering research, cutting-edge technological advancements, and global collaboration. By fostering international partnerships, conducting sophisticated cyber exercises, and advocating for stronger cybersecurity policies, the Center aims to enhance global cyber resilience, protect critical infrastructure, and contribute significantly to the international cybersecurity discourse.

Distinguished guests included Ms. Rekha Sharma, former chairperson of National Commission for Women, Maj Gen A K Singh, AVSM, SM, Col of Sikh regiment, Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, DG NIELIT and representative from industry, academia, Civil Society, defense forces and the Govt of India.
