ASRock Industrial, announced that its iEP-5010G-DCN edge controller has successfully achieved IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 3 (SL3) certification, making it the world’s first SL3-certified Host Device industrial computer. As a significant milestone in ASRock Industrial’s secure-by-design strategy, the certification further strengthens the platform’s readiness for deployment in mission-critical operational technology (OT) environments, where robust cybersecurity protection is essential for defending against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. The platform also integrates a hardware-rooted, post-quantum-ready security architecture to address evolving cybersecurity requirements and future cryptographic challenges. This achievement reinforces ASRock Industrial’s commitment to delivering trusted and cyber-resilient industrial edge computing platforms, helping enterprises strengthen security and operational resilience across critical OT environments.

IEC 62443-4-2 SL3 Certified. Built for Cyber Resilience

As cyber threats targeting industrial infrastructure continue to evolve, mission-critical operational technology environments require increasingly resilient cybersecurity. The IEC 62443-4-2 SL3 certification demonstrates that the iEP-5010G-DCN incorporates advanced security capabilities designed to mitigate advanced cyberattack scenarios, including unauthorized access, firmware tampering, credential compromise, and system integrity attacks. The platform integrates TPM 2.0, FIDO2 authentication, BIOS and Secure Boot protection, tamper detection mechanisms, together with a PQC-ready (supporting NIST FIPS 203/204) hardware root-of-trust from WiSECURE Technologies, a leading hardware security module vendor. Cryptographic keys remain securely isolated within the dedicated HSM and are protected from unauthorized extraction. Together, these security capabilities help organizations strengthen cybersecurity resilience today while preparing for the transition to the post-quantum era.

Built for Hazardous Environments. ATEX, IECEx & C1D2 Certified

Designed for hazardous and demanding industrial environments, the iEP-5010G-DCN combines ATEX Zone 2, IECEx, and UL C1D2 certifications with rugged, fanless construction for reliable operation in challenging conditions. Its conformal coating meets the EIA-364-65A Class IIIA corrosion protection standard, enabling stable operation in G3-level corrosive environments and supporting deployment in areas with explosion risks and corrosive conditions. Powered by an Intel® Atom® x6425RE (Elkhart Lake) processor, the iEP-5010G-DCN supports In-band ECC memory, flexible I/O expansion, -40°C to 70°C wide-temperature operation, altitudes up to 3,000 meters, and 6–36V DC wide-range power input. The platform is well suited for oil and gas, mining and metals, chemical processing, water and wastewater treatment, and energy infrastructure, delivering reliable edge computing for critical industrial applications.

“Achieving IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 3 (SL3) certification and becoming the world’s first SL3-certified Host Device industrial computer marks a significant milestone in our long-term commitment to secure-by-design product development and cybersecurity excellence. It demonstrates our dedication to delivering trusted edge computing platforms for mission-critical industrial environments. Looking ahead, we will continue advancing our cybersecurity portfolio to help customers build secure industrial infrastructure,” said James Lee, Chairman of ASRock Industrial.

AI, connected infrastructure, and industrial automation are transforming how critical systems are designed, deployed, and protected. As industrial environments become increasingly intelligent and connected, cybersecurity must evolve beyond traditional operational reliability to become a core foundation for resilient infrastructure. With the iEP-5010G-DCN achieving IEC 62443-4-2 SL3 certification and integrating hardware-rooted security with post-quantum-ready architecture, ASRock Industrial continues to help organizations build trusted and cyber-resilient industrial infrastructure.
