TimesTech: Can you share the story of BPE India’s inception and how it has grown into a global power solutions provider over the last two and a half decades?
Amitansu: BPE India was founded with a clear vision to address the growing demand for reliable and efficient power solutions. In the early 2000s, power backup solutions were in their nascent stage in India, and businesses were struggling with inconsistent energy supply. Recognizing this gap, we started our journey with a focus on delivering innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
Over the last 24+ years, BPE has expanded its operations from a modest venture to a globally recognized name in power solutions. We have achieved this by continuously investing in technology, building a strong distribution network, and maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Today, BPE operates across multiple verticals, offering cutting-edge solutions to a variety of industries, including IT, manufacturing, healthcare, BFSI, Government and data centers.
TimesTech: How has BPE evolved over the years, and what have been the most significant milestones in the company’s journey?
Amitansu: One of the first major landmarks for BPE was in 2010 when we became the primary UPS provider for the Commonwealth Games, showcasing its capability to handle large-scale and critical projects. In 2014, BPE achieved a remarkable sales milestone of INR 1 billion, signifying strong growth and market acceptance. Later around 2022 we expanded into manufacturing data center solutions across India and internationally, meeting the growing demand for high-performance infrastructure. Earlier in 2024, BPE reached a significant benchmark of 1 million UPS units, cementing its position as a trusted supplier for reputed OEMs.
Additionally, the company has expanded its manufacturing facilities to 1 million sq. ft., enabling a larger production scale to meet increasing demand. Its partnerships with over 3,500 global partners and 2 million installations underscore its widespread reach and impact.
TimesTech: How does BPE leverage innovation to remain competitive in the power solutions market, and can you highlight any recent product launches or advancements?
Amitansu: At BPE, innovation is at the core of our operations, allowing us to address the evolving needs of our customers and remain competitive in the market. Our commitment to customized solutions tailored for the Indian market ensures that we deliver products that resonate with our clients’ specific requirements.
In 2024, we launched the BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), which offers a reliable alternative to traditional diesel generator (DG) sets. It bridges a significant gap in the market by providing an environmentally safe, sustainable, and cost-effective long-term solution. By replacing DG sets, BESS helps organizations achieve their sustainability goals while ensuring reliability during power outages. This positions BPE as a leader in driving the transition toward greener energy systems, addressing both environmental concerns and the increasing demand for efficient power backup solutions.
TimesTech: What sets BPE apart from competitors in the UPS and power backup industry, and how do you ensure consistent quality across your extensive product range?
Amitansu: BPE’s ability to deliver customized power solutions tailored to individual client needs is a key differentiator in the industry. Especially in Indian power market, where irregular power supply prevalent in many regions – our customized solutions ensures that we meet the unique load requirements of each customer, delivering reliability and efficiency even in challenging conditions. By leveraging advanced technology and ensuring each product aligns with global quality standards, we consistently exceed customer expectations.
TimesTech: BPE has worked on major projects with ISRO, Indian Railways, and Data Centers. How have these partnerships shaped BPE’s impact on the power solutions industry?
Amitansu: BPE’s ability to deliver locally customized power solutions tailored to individual client needs is a key differentiator in the industry. By leveraging advanced technology and ensuring each product aligns with global quality standards, we consistently exceed customer expectations.
All our products are Made in India which allows us to offer products that are not only highly reliable but also cost-effective. By manufacturing locally, we significantly reduce costs while maintaining exceptional quality, ensuring that our prices are better than all competitors in the market. This approach positions BPE as the preferred choice for customers seeking both value and innovation.
We also invest heavily in end-to-end data center solutions – from modular ups (up to 8MW), smart racks and even MEP Capabilities. This dedication allows us to maintain consistent quality while offering a diverse product range at competitive prices, reinforcing our leadership in the power solutions industry.
TimesTech: What are BPE’s expansion plans, and how does the company’s vision align with emerging global trends in power and energy?
Amitansu: BPE is aggressively pursuing expansion in both domestic and international markets. We are aiming to reach a turnover of 1000cr in the next few years through our data center capabilities. We are also heavily focused on supporting emerging power challenges like replacement of Diesel generators such as BESS, and lithium-based energy storage solutions (NRGX series). We want our Made in India product to ensure that Power is ON everywhere in the world.
