TimesTech: What is the importance of energy efficiency in today’s world and how can it help businesses reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs? Can you discuss the range of energy-efficient products that Danfoss India offers in this regard?

Ravichandran: Energy efficiency (EE) is the fastest, easiest, and most impactful way to accelerate the green transition acknowledged by the world today. According to Danfoss CII- GBC Report on Decarbonization of Indian Industrial Sector, EE can reduce CO2 emissions by twice through current technologies and energy efficiency measures. Industry will gradually adopt new technologies such as CCUS, H2 after 2035. As a result, Energy Efficiency adoption will contribute nearly 40% of the overall industrial emission reductions in India. For a sustainable transition to carbon-neutrality, quick action on energy is crucial for India facing an energy scarcity. If energy is used in a smart way, the curve of the energy demand can be broken. This will in turn ease the pressure on the renewables, as each watt generated can be stretched further.

At Danfoss India, we offer a wide range of energy-efficient products that can help businesses reduce their energy consumption and improve their bottom line. Our product range includes variable frequency drives (VFDs), which can reduce energy consumption by up to 50%, and our range of energy-efficient motors that are up to 96% efficient. We also offer refrigeration and air conditioning solutions that are up to 40% more energy-efficient than traditional systems.

Our range of energy-efficient products has been designed to help businesses and industries achieve their sustainability goals while reducing their carbon footprint. Our products are used in a variety of industries, including HVAC, refrigeration, food and beverage, and waste-water treatment, among others.

TimesTech: Given India’s hot climate, what is the importance of refrigeration and air conditioning products? How is Danfoss India helping to improve the efficiency of these systems?

Ravichandran: India’s hot climate makes refrigeration and air conditioning products a critical component of daily life. With rising temperatures and increasing urbanization, the demand for air conditioning and refrigeration solutions is only set to increase. However, these solutions also consume a significant amount of energy, leading to increased carbon emissions.

Danfoss India is committed to improving the efficiency of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Our solutions are designed to reduce energy consumption while providing optimal cooling and refrigeration performance. Our range of energy-efficient refrigeration solutions, such as electronic expansion valves and compressors, can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.

We also offer a range of energy-efficient HVAC solutions that can significantly reduce energy consumption while providing optimal cooling and heating performance. Our HVAC solutions include variable frequency drives, which can reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.

By offering energy-efficient refrigeration and air conditioning solutions, Danfoss India is helping to reduce the carbon footprint of these systems while improving the quality of life for millions of people.

TimesTech: What is the potential of renewable energy in India? Can you discuss some of the renewable energy projects that Danfoss India is currently involved in, including solar and wind power?

Ravichandran: India has enormous potential for RE, particularly in solar & wind power. According to the International Energy Agency, India has the potential to generate over 300 GW of solar power and over 100 GW of wind power by 2030.

Danfoss India is actively involved in several RE projects, including solar & wind power. Our solutions are designed to improve the efficiency and reliability of RE systems while reducing their environmental impact. Our range of converters and controllers can significantly improve the efficiency of solar power systems, while our range of wind turbine converters can improve the efficiency and performance of wind turbines.

Danfoss India is helping to drive the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for India. Our solutions not only improve the efficiency and performance of RE systems, but they also help to reduce costs and increase reliability, making them a more viable option for businesses and industries across the country.

TimesTech: What is the concept of smart cities and how can they contribute to sustainability and efficiency? How is Danfoss India working to develop solutions for smart cities in India?

Ravichandran: Smart cities are designed to use technology and data to improve the quality of life for residents while reducing the environmental impact of urbanization. By integrating technology and data into city infrastructure, smart cities can improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance public services. India has green ambitions, which Danfoss’ solutions can help to fulfill. We can help increase machine productivity, reduce emissions, lower energy consumption, and enable electrification for the benefit of people and the climate in the wake of rapid urbanization in India.

Danfoss India is working to develop solutions for smart cities in India. Our solutions are designed to improve the efficiency of city infrastructure while reducing its environmental impact. For example, our district cooling solutions can significantly reduce energy consumption in buildings.

For example, we are currently involved in the Bhubaneswar Smart City project, which is focused on developing sustainable and efficient city infrastructure. Our solutions are being used to improve the efficiency of energy, water, and waste management systems, among others.

TimesTech: How can digital technology improve efficiency and productivity in manufacturing? Can you discuss Danfoss India’s involvement in the development of Industry 4.0 solutions and their potential in India?

Ravichandran: Digital technology has the potential to revolutionize the manufacturing industry by improving efficiency, productivity, and quality. By using data and analytics to optimize processes and operations, manufacturers can reduce costs, improve product quality, and increase output.

Danfoss India is actively involved in the development of Industry 4.0 solutions, which are designed to integrate digital technology into manufacturing processes. Our solutions include sensors and controllers that can collect and analyze data from machines and equipment, as well as software that can provide real-time insights into production processes.
