IPCA & Kia Gurugram’s Plastic Recycling Panel Event

Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) and Kia India Pvt Ltd organized a thought-provoking Panel Discussion and Felicitation Ceremony focused on the crucial topic of effective plastic waste collection and recycling in Gurugram. The event, held at Lemon Tree hotel, Sector 60- Gurgaon, saw the participation of key stakeholders addressing the pressing issue of plastic waste management in the region.

The discussion was around the key issue of plastic waste management in the region and how Project DROP, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Kia India, implemented by IPCA, is helping in easing it by contributing to sustainable waste management practices.  It’s noteworthy that over the past year, Project DROP has successfully diverted 2500 metric tons of plastic from ending up in landfills

The esteemed panel included: Dr. Naresh Kumar, HCS, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram,  Dr. Suneel Pandey, Director & Senior Fellow at TERI – The Energy and Resources Institute, Dr. S.K Nigam, Ex-Director, CPCB (MoEFCC) & Expert, Solid & Plastic Waste Management, Mr. Sajal Jaiswal, Deputy Manager – Sustainability & CSR, Kia India Pvt Limited,  and Dr. Priyank Arya, Founder Director, EHS Service. Mr. Ashish Jain, Founder & Director, IPCA, facilitated the conversation.

During the panel discussion, Dr. Naresh Kumar emphasized the need for a societal shift towards responsible waste management practices, stating, “Society has to accept the responsibility before any enforcement rules are to be implemented.” 

In light of these discussions, Mr. Ashish Jain, Director of the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), commented, “The Panel Discussion and Felicitation Ceremony have brought to the forefront the critical need for collective responsibility in addressing plastic waste challenges. Dr. Naresh Kumar’s insights underscore the importance of societal awareness and active participation in creating a sustainable future. The event concluded with a Felicitation Ceremony recognizing exemplary contributions to plastic waste management in Gurugram, with a focus on encouraging collaborative efforts for a cleaner and greener future.
