MIC Electronics Limited, a leading Indian technology and railway electronics manufacturer, HVAC Control System has secured its first order from Indian Railways for its indigenously developed Microprocessor Controller for Roof Mounted AC Package Units (RMPU), following the product’s successful approval by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO). The order has been placed by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) for application in LHB passenger coaches. It marks a strategically important milestone in MIC’s renewed expansion into high-value railway automation systems.
Designed, developed, and manufactured at MIC’s advanced Hyderabad facility, the controller complies with RDSO/PE/SPEC/AC/0139-2009 (Rev.1) and reinforces the Make in India vision for smart, self-reliant railway infrastructure. The microprocessor-based system features precise climate control, adaptive compressor cycling, enhanced diagnostic intelligence, and multiple operational safeguards, ensuring improved passenger comfort, reduced downtime, and high performance even under extreme climatic conditions. With its modular architecture and firmware-based upgrade capability, the controller further supports long-term maintainability and optimized lifecycle costs for Railways.
This order is expected to trigger broader adoption of MIC’s controller technology across multiple zones, supporting Indian Railways’ ongoing transition to modernized LHB and double-decker AC coaches nationwide. As per the Letter of Acceptance issued by NFR, deliveries will be completed within 45 days, followed by mandatory inspections, workshop integration, and functional testing on operational rakes.
Speaking about this milestone, Rakshit Mathur, CEO, MIC Electronics Limited, said, “This order reinforces the trust placed in MIC’s engineering capabilities. We assure Indian Railways of consistent product performance, robust after-sales support, and dedicated collaboration throughout the rollout of these systems. Our focus remains on delivering solutions that reduce lifecycle costs and improve reliability across the LHB fleet.”
The system carries a 30-month warranty along with comprehensive field support and technical assistance during the deployment phase.
With a strong legacy serving Indian Railways through Passenger Information Systems, Emergency Lighting Units, SMPS power systems, and LED technologies, MIC Electronics continues to invest in advanced control electronics, smart coach automation, and IoT-enabled monitoring solutions. The introduction of this RMPU controller positions the company to significantly scale its footprint in railway electronics as fleet digitalization and comfort upgrades accelerate across India.
