Mouser Electronics has announced a new global distribution agreement with Acconeer, a leading supplier of 3D sensors and pulsed, short-range radar technologies. Acconeer’s radar products use pulsed coherent radar (PCR) technology, which combines the low power consumption of a pulsed radar with the high accuracy of a FMCW system. The resulting technology offers several great advantages, including high range resolution with a power consumption of less than 1 mW, for applications such as high-precision distance measurement, smart presence and motion detection, level measurement, and obstacle detection.

The Acconeer product line, available from Mouser Electronics, includes the Acconeer A111 PCR sensor — a single-chip system-in-package (SiP) solution with embedded radio and antenna in a footprint of only 29 mm2. The A111 radar sensor operates in the 60 GHz radio band and can detect multiple objects at close range with single measurements as well as continuous sweeps at any frequency up to 1500 Hz.

The Acconeer XM112 is a 24 mm × 16 mm module that integrates the A111 PCR sensor and a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M7 microprocessor on the same printed circuit board (PCB). The Cortex-M7 core is equipped with 384 Kbytes of SRAM and 1 Mbyte of flash and has a maximum core processor frequency of 300 MHz.

The XM122 IoT low-power connected radar module also integrates the A111 PCR sensor, pairing it with a Nordic nRF52840 system-on-chip (SoC) in an optimized circular form factor with a diameter of just 33 mm. The Nordic SoC incorporates a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M4 CPU with 256 Kbytes of SRAM and 1 Mbyte of flash, as well as support for Bluetooth 5, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, 802.15.4 and ANT communications.

Mouser also now stocks the XM132 Entry Module, an integration-ready module intended to be used for evaluation and development purposes as well as for integration into commercial products. The module integrates the A111 PCR sensor and a 32-bit STMicroelectronics STM32G0 microcontroller with Arm Cortex M0+ core, 128 Kbytes of flash memory and 36 Kbytes of RAM.

The XM112, XM122, and XM132 modules can be used as stand-alone devices, where customers can embed their application on top of the Acconeer Radar System Software (RSS) using the RSS API.
