Murata Type 2LL Module Enables Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth & IoT Connectivity

The Type 2LL module is a small, high-performance solution designed to enhance connectivity and efficiency in various IoT, handheld wireless, and gateway applications.

The Murata Type 2LL module, available from Mouser, is based on the IW610G tri-radio system-on-chip (SoC)  from NXP Semiconductors, which integrates Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.4, and 802.15.4 radios into a compact solution, providing robust wireless communication capabilities.

The Wi-Fi 6 subsystem offers improved network efficiency, reduced latency, and an extended range, while the Bluetooth LE radio supports high-speed data rates and long-range communication. Additionally, the 802.15.4 radio offers PHY data rates of up to 114.7 Mbps on Wi-Fi and 2 Mbps on BLE. The Wi-Fi supports SDIO v3.0 DDR50 interfaces, while the Bluetooth section facilitates a high-speed 4-wire UART interface and PCM for audio data.

The Type 2LL module is packaged in an impressively small, shielded form factor (8.8 × 7.7 × 1.3 mm3) that facilitates integration into size and power-sensitive applications. The Type 2LL employs highly rich, enhanced collaborative coexistence hardware mechanisms and algorithms, enabling optimized collaboration among Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 802.15.4 for maximum performance. In IEEE 802.11ax mode, the Wi-Fi operation assists rates of MCS0-MCS9 (up to 256QAM) in 20MHz channels for data rates.
