N.A.N. Silox GreenMet Pvt. Ltd., the joint venture between N.A.N. GreenMet and Belgium’s Silox Group, has appointed Vijay Pasupathy as Chief Executive Officer as the company receives Consent to Establish (CTE) and moves forward with groundbreaking for its ₹1,400 crore lithium-ion battery recycling and critical metals facility at Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh.

The company has also earmarked additional investment beyond the initial ₹1,400 crore outlay to accelerate its downstream expansion into precursor cathode active material (pCAM) and cathode active material (CAM) manufacturing, actively pursuing global technology partnerships.

Vijay brings over two decades of industrial leadership across strategy and operations, having previously served as Executive Vice President at Epsilon Advanced Materials, alongside senior roles at Orbia and EY. He will lead N.A.N. Silox GreenMet through plant execution at Naidupeta and drove the company’s expansion into engineered cathode materials.

To execute the industrial buildout, N.A.N. Silox GreenMet has assembled a high-caliber leadership team, appointing Rakesh Patel as Chief Operating Officer, Harish Aich as Chief Technology Officer, M. Sri Rama Krishna Murthy as Deputy CFO, Partha Reddy as Chief Supply Chain Officer, and Alisha Abbas as Head of HR. The team brings deep domain expertise across metallurgy, mineral processing, and large-scale plant execution from Hindalco, Shell, ExxonMobil, Adani’s Kutch Copper, and Hyundai.

Bridging the Midstream Battery Gap in India

The Naidupeta facility will feature an ultimate capacity of 40,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of shredding and 20,000 TPA of hydrometallurgical processing, deployed in phases. The plant’s hydrometallurgical technology will produce high-purity, battery-grade salts designed directly as feedstock for downstream pCAM and CAM synthesis.

By linking battery recycling directly with cathode material manufacturing, the company aims to establish domestic capabilities to process recovered critical metals into cell-ready materials, reducing India’s reliance on imported East Asian cathode supplies.

India’s battery ecosystem is scaling rapidly at the cell manufacturing level, but the country remains heavily dependent on overseas supply chains for processed cathode materials. With Consent to Establish secured and groundbreaking underway at Naidupeta, N.A.N. Silox GreenMet is focused on executing its lithium-ion battery recycling and hydrometallurgical facility while pursuing global technology partnerships to expand into domestic pCAM and CAM manufacturing. This expansion aims to strengthen India’s battery manufacturing value chain by enabling recovered critical metals to be processed into high-value battery materials within the country.

Naivedya Agarwal, Director and Co-founder, N.A.N. GreenMet, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Vijay as CEO alongside a heavily experienced operational leadership team at this pivotal stage. With groundbreaking underway at Naidupeta, our downstream pCAM and CAM expansion will ensure that critical minerals recovered in India are processed further and reused to build new batteries domestically.”

Jean-Christophe Bogaert, Chairman, Silox Group, said:

“With Vijay and the new leadership team on board, Silox’s advanced hydrometallurgical technology transitions into large-scale industrial execution in India. Our expertise in high-purity metal extraction will be central as we build out the Naidupeta facility and advance discussions on pCAM and CAM technology partnerships.”
