What role does sustainability play in business and corporate strategy? This question is the focus of the new Sustainability Report from R&M, the globally active Swiss developer and provider of high-end infrastructure solutions for data and communication networks. R&M has just published its Sustainability Report for the 2025 financial year. It provides information on the progress R&M has made in decarbonization, the circular economy, compliance as well as in social and ethical areas.

For R&M, the focus in the eventful 2025 financial year was on setting a strategic course. Sustainability plays an important role here, not only because of social responsibility, but also to make efficient use of synergies and entrepreneurial opportunities,» reports Dr. Roger Baumann, CEO of R&M.

The sustainability management team had worked intensively on the question of how R&M can address the wide-ranging aspects of sustainability and at the same time grow profitably. The objectives are gradually anchored in corporate processes worldwide in four strategic spheres of activity. Roger Baumann emphasizes: «For R&M, sustainable business means a clever use of resources and securing the company’s ability to act in the future.»

Proportion of renewable energies determined for the first time

Thanks to efficient transport and warehousing, R&M was able to reduce costs and emissions. After lengthy preparatory work, data on the share of renewable energies in total energy consumption could be determined for the first time. It was 23.5 % in 2025. The long-term objective is to cover 80 % of global consumption with renewable energy sources. R&M is gradually replacing plastic packaging materials for cabling products with recycled cardboard. A new packaging concept reduces waste on construction sites, raw material consumption and the workload for installation companies.

The international rating agency EcoVadis awarded R&M the Gold certificate again in 2025. «The Gold medal won for the second time in a row is the result of continuous and integrated sustainability management,» emphasizes Jonas Güresir, COO and Sustainability Officer. Consistency in the implementation of sustainability goals, visible results, motivation and authenticity are decisive for R&M. It is particularly pleasing to see how the regional R&M locations are advancing local initiatives and making a significant contribution to achieving the global objectives.
