Texas Instruments (TI) has announced plans to acquire Silicon Labs, a company known for its leadership in embedded wireless connectivity solutions. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

The planned acquisition brings together Silicon Labs’ expertise in embedded wireless technologies with TI’s global manufacturing scale and established semiconductor operations. The companies say the combination is designed to accelerate product innovation, improve supply reliability, and broaden customer support worldwide.

Silicon Labs has built a strong position in wireless connectivity, serving markets such as the Internet of Things, industrial automation, smart home devices, and other embedded applications. TI, one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers, has a broad portfolio spanning analog chips, embedded processors, and other foundational technologies used across industries.

In a statement to customers, Silicon Labs emphasized that the acquisition is intended to build on its existing strengths. The company said its product roadmap, customer commitments, and day-to-day operations will remain unchanged during the transition period. Until the deal officially closes, both companies will continue to operate independently, and existing customer agreements and contacts will remain in place.

The companies have framed the move as a strategic step to strengthen their position in a fast-growing market for connected devices. By combining Silicon Labs’ wireless connectivity expertise with TI’s scale and operational infrastructure, the merged organization expects to enhance its ability to serve global customers and meet increasing demand for embedded and connected technologies.

Further financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. More details are expected as the companies move through the regulatory review process over the next year.
