Tokyo, March 14, 2019 – Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hamada) is pleased to announce that Anritsu’s New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR and 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR has been chosen by the Samsung Electronics Quality Assurance Lab (SEQAL) quality assurance unit of the Samsung Electronics for its future 5G NR Mobile terminal certification business.

SEQAL is a test house approved by terminal certification organizations, such as GCF and PTCRB, and has played a key role in facilitating early commercial rollout of mobile communication services by using Anritsu 3G (W-CDMA) and 4G (LTE) conformance test systems. SEQAL has now chosen to adopt Anritsu’s new 5G Mobile terminal certification test system, targeting full commercial 5G services from 2019.

The ME7873NR is an RF test platform for 5G NR currently under development and supports RF conformance and carrier acceptance inspection tests. It is registered with GCF and PTCRB as the 5G NR test platform TP250 and is designed for certification of mobile terminals using 3GPP-compliant 5G RF tests and will also be used for PTCRB certifications.

Moreover, combination with the CATR chamber now in joint development and an RF converter covers the 3GPP-specified 5G frequency bands both sub-6 GHz and mmWave including spurious measurements.

Like the ME7873NR, the ME7834NR is a test platform for 5G NR mobile terminals, but instead supports Protocol conformance and carrier acceptance inspection tests. It is registered with GCF/PTCRB as the 5G NR test platform TP251 and is designed for use at certification of mobile terminals using 3GPP-compliant 5G Protocol tests. Moreover, combination with the OTA chamber and an RF converter covers tests for the 3GPP-specified 5G frequency bands, including both the sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands.

Anritsu expects the ME7873NR and ME7834NR to play a key role in providing early support for future market needs, accelerating 5G NR certification, and assuring the early start of commercial 5G services.

Product Outline

ME7873NR: The New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR is an automated test system for 3GPP TS38.521 compliant 5G NR measurements. With design support for both 5G NR standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, combined use with the 5G over-the-air (OTA) chamber (CATR) covers the 5G frequency bands including the sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands. The flexible system configuration can be tailored to measurement conditions and an upgrade for 5G is available from the ME7873LA supporting RF and carrier acceptance inspection tests for LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro, and earlier W-CDMA mobile terminals, helping customers to configure a cost-effective RF test system matching all their requirements.

ME7834NR: The 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR supports both 5G NR standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes for a test system supporting 3GPP TS38.523 5G Protocol and carrier acceptance inspection tests by key mobile operators.  Moreover, combination with the newly designed OTA chamber and an RF converter for 5G covers the frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz and mmWave, used by 5G. The ME7834NR has been developed based on the ME7834LA which supports LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro and legacy W-CDMA Protocol conformance and carrier acceptance inspection tests. Customers with the ME7834LA can upgrade easily to 5G support while keeping the benefits of their tried-and-trusted LTE-A test environment.
