TimesTech: Tell us about the journey of Best Power Equipment.

Amitansu Established in 2000, Best Power Equipment (BPE) is the provider of strategic power   solutions to different businesses. In the first 10 years, BPE invested in infrastructure to cater to bulk needs of end customers . This was also the time when BPE started tapping in export markets in addition to the domestic market. Today, the company is present in Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, and UAE.

In the next 5 years, BPE aim to align with Industry 4.0 technology, which is enabling faster, more flexible and more efficient processes to produce higher-quality goods at reduced costs.

TimesTech: What are the products and services that are being offered by BPE?

Amitansu: BPE addresses needs of customers from diverse ecosystems – right from unorganised businesses to home offices to start-ups and to modern data centres. In addition, they also had the export market. Hence our product range qualitatively was dependant on the customer we are dealing with. Our services are end-to-end solution providing—to identify the need of the customers, suggest best value for money solutions, install the machines and also after sales service. Power backup-UPS are essential to every business and there can be no way to falter on uninterrupted power supply.

Thus, in addition to Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) machines ranging from solar enabled hybrid UPS to Interactive UPS and Inverters boasting of screen display and microprocessor for data analysis, Double Conversion UPS, Green UPS, Modular data center UPS.BPE also has an array of transformers for voltage management and remote monitoring machines based on Internet of Things (IoT).

TimesTech: How do you look at the growth and market for Data Centre solutions in India?

Amitansu: India is poised for a phenomenal growth in the UPS market, not only fuelled through data centres, but through overall shift of all functions towards digitisation including government. Anything dependant on online data management, analytics and digitisation cannot afford outages. Any downtime will mean missing out on information and business. Hence growth of UPS market can only be judged as we see it coming. According to market forecast by KVA Ratings, UPS market in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.8% during 2020-2026.

As far as Data Centres are concerned, they demand consistent, highly quality power solutions in order to ensure safe, systematic and cost-effective operations. Even though the electrical distribution systems for such environments are complex to install and maintain, it is a must for data centres regardless of budget constraints, as downtime is more expensive than lost data. Hence UPS solutions demand from this market stands at an all-time high. According to Global Market Insights, in India, the demand for data centre UPS solutions from the IT & telecom industry alone will grow at CAGR of over 5% by 2028.

TimesTech: How the trend of power demand from the Data Centre will change in the future and are we ready to accommodate the demand?

Amitansu: According to PSA Market Research, the Data Centre driven UPS market size stood at $5,729.0 million in 2021, and it is expected to rise at a compound annual growth rate of 6.5% during 2021–2030. While the market is augmented by upcoming data centres, in reality the demand is driven by exponential increase of data storage space and availability of this data 24X7 for analytics and reference. The digitalised businesses today is simply not able to short-term power outage and even voltage spikes that may lead to corrupt files or loss of data.

Thus, most of the UPS service to data centres is being supported through cloud via SmartConnect remote monitoring function that enables to examine the UPS status across multiple IT locations through a secure web interface and receiving proactive actionable alarms and UPS lifecycle guidance. Smart devices are increasingly demanded as people work with Smart appliances and products. In depth studies has reveraled that the demand for up to 500-kVA UPS systems will grow at the highest CAGR, around 8%, during 2021–2030 given the fact that this product can be used in data centres of small to large organizations to provide short-term backup energy.

India has enough suppliers—both branded and at local level to cater to the entire market range at affordable price range. Thus, we can only look forward to a exponentially expanding market.

TimesTech: What are the new opportunities that are being created in the Power Management aspect of the Data Centres?

Amitansu: The new opportunities created by Data Centres beyond UPS solutions are for the Smart Solutions driven by sustainable product management and business needs. As businesses become more aware of environmental issues there are demand of greener technology updates like Green UPS systems, which offer efficiency rates of 94-97 per cent as against the usual 80-88 per cent efficiency units. It is the latest trends that has emerged in the market as it helps conserving energy as well as reducing the carbon footprint.

In similar lines BPE offers products like Grid tied Solar Inverters, Hybrid Inverters, Remote Monitoring Systems for safety of batteries and reminder for annual maintenance services. The demand for on-time servicing leading to zero outages and lesser maintenance cost are also added services that the data centres are demanding.

TimesTech: What are the focus areas and Vision of BPE moving forward?

Amitansu: The future of the UPS industry will be evolving as the applications become smarter. Right from Smart grid connectivity to smart cities, future UPS technologies and applications will have to be smarter and more efficient, and BPE is moving towards harnessing a significant pie of this emerging market.

BPE is offering more personalised support to the customers along with affordable power back-up solutions of all range to feature in all the demand markets. Not only we boast of a price advantage, but also, we compare in every product that established brands are offering. BPE is planning awareness campaigns on indigenous technologies and ‘Made in India’ branding to capture the market going forward.
