Dr. Balaji: Over the past few years, the auto market has experienced considerable changes, resulting in a continuous development within the auto-component sector. In India, the auto component sector has swiftly adapted to meet the changing requirements of the automotive industry and OEMs. Evolving manufacturing locations, customer demands and operational models are shaping a dynamic market. Notably, electrification in India is growing fast with more EV models becoming widely available. This transition is causing a shift in value from traditional vehicles to EVs, ADAS and data-enabled services.

As a leading auto components manufacturer, we prioritize innovation to keep up with the latest technology. We constantly maintain high manufacturing standards ensurinh compliance with regulations. Our components are designed with advanced features like advanced safety and smart technology, meeting evolving customer preferences. We’re expanding our product range to include more components like ARAI-approved DC-DC converters, Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors, Throttle Position Sensors and Acoustic Vehicle Alert Systems for electric vehicles, responding to the growing demand.

TimesTech: Could you provide specific examples of TVS Sensing Solutions’ impact on automotive components, especially in areas like ADAS and autonomous driving technologies?

Dr. Balaji: The sector is undergoing major changes driven by technology, especially in electric, connected and autonomous vehicles, which has led to increased research and development costs. We are committed to developing expertise in emerging technology areas and investing in them to boost our capabilities. We aim to actively contribute to the progress of the sector by staying ahead of industry trends and nurturing collaborations with industry partners. To address these, we are adopting digital tools such as artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented/mixed reality, product lifecycle management and additive manufacturing to improve the efficiency of our research and development efforts.

We are actively exploring ADAS and autonomous driving technologies, delving into cutting-edge advancements that are reshaping the automotive industry. Our focus is on researching and developing state-of-the-art technologies, aiming to enhance vehicle safety and enable autonomous driving capabilities. Our core competency lies in Application Engineering and Customization and we aim to contribute to the advancement of sustainable transportation with our sensing solutions.

TimesTech: In the Mobility Segment, how is TVS Sensing Solutions leveraging technology and sensor integration to enhance efficiency in automotive components?

Dr. Balaji: Sensor technology in the automotive industry is set for ongoing growth, particularly in connected components. The rise of new sensor technologies is pivotal in shaping the future of autonomous driving. These advanced sensors function as vigilant observers, continuously monitoring and interpreting the surroundings to improve the safety of vehicle navigation. This development helps boost the performance of auto components by facilitating real-time data exchange and intelligent decision-making. For example, our Motor Hall Sensor PCB is a crucial component in HUB-based BLDC motors for EVs offering real-time data on motor speed and phase position. This enables efficient speed regulation and synchronization of motor phases, enhancing the overall functionality of electric two-wheelers.

We’re also working on expanding our products, with upcoming additions like Oxygen sensors and Integrated sensors Additionally, we are introducing a fully automated Surface Mount Technology (SMT) line, enhancing our ability to handle high volumes of electronic products. Every product undergoes rigorous testing to make sure it’s reliable, durable and needs less maintenance, ultimately boosting the performance and efficiency of vehicles.

Our commitment to IIoT-enabled manufacturing productivity monitoring showcases our dedication to maximizing efficiency and operational effectiveness. This advanced system blends production and research, promoting collaboration and innovation. Through the synergy of IIoT, we not only improve our products but also continuously enhance our processes. The insights we obtain help us make smart decisions, adapt quickly to market changes and stay at the forefront of the industry.
