The phenomenal speed with which the Micron semiconductor investment has taken shape including the land allotment, signing of formal MOU MoU with Gujarat government for such a massive investment of a memory chip packaging unit with an overall investment of USD 2.75 bn Is a harbinger for the future course of events. It is a testimony to the tremendous success and the outcome-oriented state visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The snowballing warmth in the Indo-US relations was perceptible during the interactions with US National Science Foundation (NSF) and the setting up iCET. The US National Science Foundation (NSF) and Min. of Electronics and IT agreed to boost Collaborative Innovation with New Funding for Joint Research Projects. The setting up of Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) will aid in cooperation in futuristic areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, space exploration, semiconductors, and defence technology.

We believe that these constructive engagements will help India in ensuring deep manufacturing, greater value addition and seamless alignment with the global tech ecosystem, said Mr. Mohindroo.

India, renowned for its thriving tech ecosystem and highly skilled workforce, and the United States, a global leader in cutting-edge technologies and innovation, have joined forces to drive forward transformative initiatives that will shape the future of various sectors. The partnership between India and the United States aims to create a conducive environment for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer.

After the recent developments in Indo-US relations, it is satisfying that substantial strategic steps have been taken, for sustained growth of the two economies, said Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA. “This will give a major boost to our efforts to become a global hub for innovation and manufacturing. We are grateful to Prime Minister Modi for his vision and leadership in making this partnership a reality.”

The agreement to promote tech Sharing by both governments to promote policies and adapting regulations to facilitate greater technology sharing, co-development, and co-production opportunities between U.S. and Indian industry, will have a long term and sustained impact on India’s tech-ecosystem. These initiatives will help to create new jobs, attract investment, and boost innovation in the Indian tech sector. They will also help to strengthen India’s position as a global leader in technology. “The Indo-US tech partnership is a major step forward in our shared mission to make the world a more prosperous and secure place,” said Mohindroo.

“We are confident that this partnership will help usher in a new era of innovation and collaboration between India and the US. We are setting up a Task Force to ensure that the current electronics trade between the 2 countries goes up from  an estimated USD 8 billion to USD 100 billion in a decade. The role of lead firms of GVC’s will be crucial but at the same time new jobs and opportunities for Indian businesses and startups will be created.

ICEA, along with all our members, extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to PM Narendra Modi for this groundbreaking achievement. His relentless efforts and visionary policies are opening unprecedented opportunities for young Indians, startups, and indeed the whole nation.

We pledge our continued support towards realizing the vision of making India an electronics manufacturing hub for the world and realising Digital India at its peak, and we look forward to the exciting journey that lies ahead in this India Techade.
