Indo-US Electronics Task Force Launched: Aiming for $100B Trade in Decade

India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) held the launch meeting of the Indo-US Task Force for Electronics in New Delhi, a landmark initiative aimed at  elevating the electronics trade between India and the United States to USD 100 billion within a  decade. 

The meeting was attended by Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha along with other senior officers, officials  from Department of Telecommunications (DoT), U.S. Embassy, leading and major U.S. and Indian  companies, investment banking fraternity, and Washington D.C.-headquartered Information  Technology Industry Council (ITI), the global trade association for the tech sector, representing  the world’s most innovative companies. 

Mr. Ram Sewak Sharma, Former TRAI Chairman and Former Secretary MeitY, and Chief  Mentor of ICEA, and Chair of the Indo-US Task Force for Electronics, said, “The Indo-US  Task Force for Electronics represents the fusion of two technological powerhouses. This inaugural  meeting is the first step towards a promising future where both nations led by the industry  collaborate to achieve mutual growth in electronics trade and innovation.”  

Mr Sharma further added, ” I appreciate MeitY’s collaboration, which ensures the accelerated  development of the electronics industry. The level of trust between India and the USA is truly  remarkable. Having a vibrant ecosystem that is part of a global supply chain is imperative. I  envision a business relationship between India and the US that is built on a foundation of trust  and partnership.” 

India’s electronics manufacturing industry is targeting USD 300 billion of electronics production by  2025-26. 

The Task Force’s key objectives include boosting trade, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and  achieving seamless integration with the global tech ecosystem. The task force aims to further the  strategic partnership between India and U.S. on semiconductor advancements, advanced  telecommunications, initiatives like iCET, and electronics supply chain. 

Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA, expressed, “We have laid the foundation of an  extraordinary partnership between India and the U.S. I look forward to the innovation, growth,  and prosperity that the Indo-US Task Force for Electronics will undoubtedly bring.”  

Mr. Mohindroo further added, “Our collective vision and goals are ambitious, but we have the right  minds, the right partnerships, and the right spirit to make this a reality. The next decade will be  transformational for the electronics industry of both India and the U.S.” 

“The Government of India will not shy away from providing support to the Indo-US Task Force for  Electronics, and will also be there to assist. Built on the foundations of mutual friendship and  partnership, this task force is bound to enhance trade collaboration between the countries.”, said Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Joint Secretary, MeitY.

“I commend the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for transforming U.S.-India  relations and increasing collaboration on issues of policy, innovation, and shared goals, especially  in digital trade and PLI 2.0 for IT Hardware. This has laid the foundation for future partnerships  and industry growth. We are excited to work with ICEA as part of the Indo-US Task Force for  Electronics.”, remarked Mr. Jason Oxman, President and CEO, ITI.
